Daily Diary - 24th October, 2007

Return to our daily diary

Who are we to believe in the debate over the federal government's intervention in the Northern Territory – a Tiwi woman who has spent her entire personal and professional life dealing with the almost overwhelming issues affecting Indigenous Australians? Or a former hair product salesman who resorts to bullying and abuse whenever his intervention is questioned?

Perhaps you could publish Marion Scrymgour's University of Sydney address in full - or link to the SMH publication on-line.

Thank-you for getting organised and giving women the opportunity to show our support for the Aboriginal people of the NT. The stories you give voice to are brilliant examples of the absurd implications of the 'one size fits all' shoe-horn the Howard Govt is trying to use. To me it looks like another assimilation attempt using the mortgage and white picket fence model.

We attended the Sydney Forum, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.  I am an Aboriginal woman from Wollongong and I am perinatal infant mental health consultant, it would be great if we could support the communities that are suffering so much.  I am so upset about what is happening with our families.  Chryne (Charlie)

When women stand strong, all the so called 'leaders' have to counter you are words.

I'm a non-Aboriginal woman living and working in the middle of it all and am seeing less and less of value and more and more of waste, duplication, one size fits all, denial of basic human rights including right of reply, riding rough shod over things that are already working as best they can rather than providing the resources to 'top up' these to ensure success..  To all you mob out there even more directly affected, stay strong and lets just keep on turning around what we can, documenting the impacts and registering our protest.

GOOD ON YOU FOR SETTING UP THIS SITE & WAY TO UPDATE EVERYONE.
